What’s in Your Medicine Cabinet?

I’ve seen the insides of a lot of medicine cabinets over the years and—holy hell—some of them are chaotic. What the heck is going on in there?!

From a minimalist standpoint, I wanted to share what’s actually in my medicine cabinet. It’s not overflowing with random products, and everything has a purpose. I only keep what I use every day or at least a few times a week. The goal is simple: reach in, grab what I need, and go.

From top left to bottom right, here’s what I keep:

  • Leave-in hair conditioner
  • Allergy medicine and eye drops
  • Daily skincare routine essentials (Face Routine blog post)
  • Toothbrushes

Easy. Simple. Done.

Before the Clean-Up

Here’s what it looked like before I tidied up for the photo. I had a few free samples I was testing—like a vitamin C serum I use only in winter since I get too much sun exposure in summer. I also keep an extra bottle or two of sunscreen on hand because I usually buy in bulk to get free shipping or take advantage of deals.

Honestly, this was a little more crowded than I like. I can’t stand reaching in and knocking things over. My goal is to keep the bathroom as minimalist and low-consumption as possible.

The Cabinet Itself

This is the original medicine cabinet installed in 1985, and it shows. It’s definitely got that yellowed look. I could paint it, but honestly, it’ll be faster and cheaper to replace it with a nice new one from Home Depot. A couple of screws, some caulking, and boom—done.

I have a few other house projects in the queue, but this one is definitely on the list. Keep an eye out for a timelapse of the install in the new year!
