This is the last closet in our house I haven’t fully dialed in—until now. It’s getting closer!

When we first moved in about three years ago, I loved that this closet was extra deep (thanks to the washer and dryer behind it). It originally held my craft supplies, holiday decorations, and a few sentimental items—like my teddy bear from when I was a baby. But as my hobbies evolved, so did this space.
Adding a 3D printer completely changed the storage needs. It became obvious that stacking everything wasn’t going to cut it. I needed vertical organization—and fast. So, I finally committed to installing a proper upper shelf to make better use of the height without the hassle of constantly unstacking bins.
Another fun twist? I’ve recently gotten hooked on timelapse videos. So I set up my iPad on a tripod and filmed the whole thing—my first timelapse project ever! My husband and I do a lot of DIYs, but we’ve usually just shared before-and-after photos with family. Sharing these timelapse moments online has been surprisingly fulfilling.
The install was super simple—I got everything from the closet section at Home Depot. Since the previous owner had already installed anchors, I just had to trim the wire shelf down from 6 feet to 5 feet and snap it into place. Total cost? Just $37.70. Total time? About 45 minutes.

My craft room closet is now one shelf closer to done. Eventually, I’ll clear out the extra stuff that no longer serves a purpose and make this strictly a craft and holiday closet. For now, I’m just enjoying the progress.
Watch the timelapse and see how it turned out!
